You are not alone in your loss, here at the Haven you'll hear stories and meet people around the world going through the same thing you are.

On June 28th, 2001 my aunt shot herself in the heart. She was 46. I decided to do something that I thought would not only honor her memory, but also help my family, those left behind. This web site is for all of those people out there who have had this happen and daily ask why. It's a site on this great big web of information, that says "YOU ARE NOT ALONE"! This site has been so theraputic. When I first lost my aunt, I felt like I should not be grieving, like I had no right to. Through my buliding this site, I have learned that it is okay to grieve, and I have every right to.

All of the people that have come through this site and emailed me, and sent in poems and memorials have been a blessing to me, and millions of others. Thank you all for the support you give others!

The grief after a sudden death such as suicide is extremly difficult. I'm hoping by coming together and using this site as an instrument for healing, we can find peace and hope.

Quotes to Live By!

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

Henri Nouwen

When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched, you begin to discover that its bottomless, that it doesnt have any resolution, that this heart is huge, vast, and limitless. You begin to discover how much warmth and gentleness is there, as well as how much space.

Pema Chodron

God may be invisable, but
He's in touch. You may not be able
to see Him, but he's in control. And that
includes what you just lost. That includes
what you've just gained. That includes all of
life- past, present, future.

-Charles Swindoll

I think only through suffering all our wonderful human qualities come out in us.
Unless and until you suffer, how will
you understand other's suffering?"

-Sree Chakravarti
